Sacred valley Cusco

1.- ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF PISAC:

One of the most important places in the Sacred Valley, the National Archaeological Park of Pisac is made up of groups of archaeological remains, including terraces, aqueducts, roads along walls and gates, channeled water channels, cemeteries, bridges, etc. This group covers an area of 4 square kilometers. The ruins occupying the hills are found on this area, forming groups of complicated arrangement, while in others there are isolated constructions. It was one of the main centers of agriculture in Inca times.

2.-ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF OLLANTAYTAMBO:

Our next visit is the only town called “Living Inca City” because its inhabitants still live according to the customs and traditions inherited by their ancestors. This place was built for military, agricultural, and religious use, also to control the administration of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Military use where we can appreciate the walls and watchtowers. Agricultural use where we can appreciate the terraces. Religious use where we can see the water fountains that were used for worship. And we return to the city of Cusco or some can stay to take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu.

3.- ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF CHINCHERO:

Our last visit and also interesting. Known as the city of the Rainbow for being a place where the output of this wonderful optical phenomenon can be seen most of the time. Also known for the use of typical and very colorful costumes by its inhabitants and for keeping alive the Inca technique of the elaboration of their clothing throughout the process from its inception to its delicate details. Chinchero as an archaeological site was a center of agricultural production in Inca times where we can appreciate its terraces. They built the Temple of Our Lady of Monserrat over the Palace of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui.
